Day -1 and 1

Woe is me

I’ve thought long and hard how to start this holiday blog and have decided to be brutally honest as I’m the only one likely to read this.

Also, I couldn’t think of a way of saying how I feel without the melodrama so I’m hoping I will join everyone in eye-rolls in the future.

There’s a lot going on for me at the moment and my health, through anxiety has deteriorated over the last few months.

The organising / setup of this holiday has all but broken me, resulting in an ambulance being called yesterday.

Nothing serious, just stress they say

The big stress for this holiday is actually getting into the country with all the forms you have to fill in and it just crashed on me.

Joss (and the kids) have been amazing though and built me up to be able to actually look forward to the holiday this morning.

In the morning we dropped Tilly off at the kennels and did a bit of last minute shopping.

Then whilst Joss and Hattie packed the whole house , I tried and failed to check in online. Nothing I did seemed to work. I then behaved awfully to everyone as I had a meltdown but everyone was so kind in their response - they deserved much better from me today and I let them down.

I apologised but it doesn’t seem enough

On top of the guilt, now not only do I have the stress on Sunday when we land in Japan but I have the stress of actually getting on the bloody plane tomorrow  - 2 days of pain instead of 1 - great.

In my state Joss offered to drive and I am so grateful - I know how difficult she can find driving long distance so I am so grateful.

She was brilliant - all the way here to the thistle hotel in Heathrow without a problem

Once settled in the hotel room I made one last attempt to check in (failed) before I went to reception and printed off everything I could think of that they might need at check in

Rightly,Joss decided in my absence that the holiday drinks needed to start so took Hattie for a beer, where Kieren and I joined them later

Hattie decided she liked the taste of guiness - Joss is definitely a bad influence (yuk)

When we were here in 2018 we found a pub down the road so decided to go there for dinner

Unfortunately it was absolutely rammed and although we did look at another rather ropey pub, we decided to go back to the hotel restaurant

Joss and Hattie had the salmon risotto, Kieren had a cheeseburger and I had a ham sandwich and fries ( better safe than sorry )

I then bought the pod tickets for tomorrow and we all are having an early night

Fingers crossed for a far more upbeat post tomorrow…….
